This is a careers website which the school is using from year 9 onwards to help students keep up to date with their possible future careers based on their current likes/dislikes. It can be regularly updated as they change their minds. We will be using it in the future for students to make their option choices. Students can get their personal password by entering BMSB as the fast track code. Parents/carers can sign up by clicking the ‘NOT REGISTERED’ button. This is a package we have recently acquired which enables students to find university courses according to a range of criteria. It is mainly aimed at sixth form students but may be useful if you are uncertain of which subjects you will need to study a particular subject a t university. This is a website set up by Hobsons and is free to all students. You can register online or by completing a form obtainable from Mrs Russell. It contains information on job vacancies, careers advice, course information and gap year options.
This is another package available on the school network which can also be accessed from home. This is a very useful tool if you don’t know what you wish to do in the future as it allows you to enter your interests and will suggest suitable careers/courses you might like to consider. TQI is a tool for prospective applicants to make choices about what and where to study. The site lets the user compare data for university and subject combinations and publishes reports about teaching quality. A particularly useful link is to E-CLIPS, a website which has leaflets on over 400 occupatins, regularly updated. To enter the site you need to enter the school postcode MK41 7NT.
This is a national helpline and website for young people aged 13 -19 and supports a source of information and support on a wide range of topics: Careers, Learning, Health, Housing, Free time, Work, Money, Relationships, Your Rights, Travel. Young people can search for information themselves on the extensive website or ask for advice on online, by telephone, e-mail or text. Connexions Direct Advisers are available to give non-judgmental, confidential advice and practical help between 8am and 2am 365 days per year, manned by trained advisers, who are Graduate Qualified in related subject, certificate in professional practice, sexual health and drugs awareness trained, BS7799 security checked.
